Deborah Kellar
"Aunt Josie "

A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Deborah is Founder and Artistic Director of BAMN Ensemble (By Any Means Necessary Ensemble), BAMN-BAMN Youth Ensemble, and Executive/Artistic Director of Educational Theatre Institute. She is also an accomplished actress, singer, Director, Drama-therapist, acting coach and interactive playwriting instructor.  Deborah is a member of all three professional actor’s unions:  SAG (Screen Actors Guild), AFTRA (America Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and AEA (Actor’s Equity Association), and has directed, produced or performed in over 150 theatrical productions, and appeared in over 50 film and television productions.  She was profiled in the Los Angeles Times for her work as a Teaching Artist with youth at Audubon Middle School in Los Angeles, and was the recipient of a Fulbright Japan Fellowship in 2006.  She was also a 2006 nominee for an Ovation Award for her latest performance in “The Shelter” at the Odyssey Theatre, directed by the Valerie Belyakovich, Artistic Director of the Moscow Theatre.  However, her favorite role, to date, was as the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet (performed in Japanese and English).

Having a very diverse career, Deborah runs several successful after-school programs, in addition to having worked with organizations such as Center Theatre Group; Music Center of Los Angeles; Cornerstone Theater Company; California Institute of the Arts; Opera Pacific; Orange County Performing Arts Center; Carrie Productions; The Actors’ Gang; Stop Gap Theatre Company; Playwrights Project; Virginia Avenue Project; Youth Leadership Project; Santa Monica/Malibu Unified Schools; Crippled Children’s Foundation; Venice Arts Mecca; California State Thespian Festival and many others.  Deborah is elated at having a chance to bring to life the role of Aunt Josie in this production of Prove It On Me!
