Dee Jae Cox is a Los Angeles based Playwright who originates from Cleveland, Ohio. She is the author of the critically acclaimed play, “The Rape of Djuna Barnes,” which premiered in Los Angeles and was produced by Marian Jones and the Ivy Theatre.
The Los Angeles Times gave ‘Djuna’, rave reviews, commenting on the; “ingeniously implemented split chronology… an abundance of literary details enriches the cultural tapestry… Poignant and Mind Exploring… A PBS docudrama couldn’t have done a better job.”
Dee Jae’s play “Letters Home”, which featured lead actress,Emily Deschanel, star of Fox television’s hit series “Bones”, had a very successful run at the Stella Adler Theatre, in Hollywood and was a winner of the 2000 Arch and Bruce Brown Foundation’s National Playwriting Competition. “Letter’s Home” has been produced by The Ivy Theatre and staged by multiple universities through out the country.

Dee Jae was a Mass Communications major at Middle Tennessee State University and has studied playwriting, through UCLA’s Writer’s Program, with well-known theatre professionals such as, Playwright and Dramaturge, Simon Levy.
Her work has received staged readings at Playwright’s Festivals, the Fountain Theatre in Hollywood, The Lily Tomlin – Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Department-Renberg Theatre and was selected for a performance at the Globe Theatre, as part of the City of West Hollywood’s, Lesbian Visibility Celebration.
She has written a myriad of feature articles, short stories and poems that have appeared in various publications and has currently begun work on her first novel.
