Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Terrence Tatum got the acting the bug at a very young age. After seeing the legendary Sidney Poitier in the film version of 'A Raisin in the Sun', Terrence wanted to become a fellow thespian.
Like many people who have such lofty ambitions, Terrence took part in the normal grade school and high-school plays. Though some people place their goals elsewhere, Terrence chose to continue down the acting path. Terrence attended Michigan State University in 1999 and began studying for his B.A. in theatre arts. While attending M.S.U., Terrence acted in several student plays and films such as "Betty's Summer Vacation", "Musical Comedy Murders of 1940" and "Of Mice and Men" (Crooks). With all the plays/films Terrence had been in, he had yet to perform in one of M.S.U's main-stage performances. That was until Terrence entered his senior year at Michigan State.
In the Fall of 2002, Terrence was cast in "Three in the Back, Two in the Head" A political play that involved Terrence playing a retired military official caught up in scandals and cover ups. This was a breakout role for Terrence, who gained his first actf (American College Theatre Festival) nomination for the part..
In the second half of the year, Terrence was granted one of his greatest wishes. Terrence was cast as Walter Lee Younger in "A Raisin in the Sun". The same play and part that gave him the desire to become an actor. For his final performance at Michigan State, Terrence was performing as the lead on one of the colleges largest venues. Terrence did an remarkable job as Walter Lee, as was evident by his second ACTF nomination in a year. He was also given the Best Actor in Lansing award on behalf of the Lansing State Journal. Terrence finished an amazing senior year at Michigan State by graduating with a B.A. of Fine Arts in Theatre.
After taking some time away from acting, Terrence relocated to California to continue working in the arts. Terrence has since been involved with several tv shows and films including "General Hospital", "Grey's Anatomy" and "Final Approach" starring Dean Cain and Ernie Hudson. He is currently working on a handful or projects as he continues yet another phase of his blossoming career. www.terrencetatum.com/
