After a long and successful career in films and on Broadway, including ten years with the famous "Group Theatre," Adler opened her New York school in 1949. She taught acting technique based on her personal work with Constantin Stanislavski~ a technique that nurtures the imagination of the actor.
Stella's teachings have been embraced by many of the world's foremost actors, writers and directors, including Marlon Brando, Robert DeNiro, Benicio del Toro, Melanie Griffith, Susan Clark, Harvey Keitel, Richard Dreyfuss, Cybill Shepherd, John Ritter, Peter Bogdanovich and Gary Ross (writer of “Dave” and “Big”, writer/director of “Pleasantville” and “Seabiscuit”), to name only a few.
After Stella taught for many years at various locations here in Southern California, the West Coast Theater and school opened in Los Angeles in 1985. In 1993 it moved to its present location at 6773 Hollywood Boulevard, 2nd floor. |
